Taylor Swift
Taylor Alison Swift (born December 13th, 1989) is an American musician and singer. Her discography covers a variety of genres, and her songwriting--often in the form of personal reflections--has been praised by critics and received extensive media attention. Swift was born in West Reading (PA) and moved to Nashville as a teenager to pursue a career as a country singer. Swift signed a songwriting contract with Sony/ATV Music Publishing in 2004 and a recording contract with Big Machine Records in 2005. She was the first female country singer to make an U.S. platinum-certified debut album, with her self-titled album. Swift's subsequent albums, Fearless (2008), and Speak Now (2010), were a focus on country pop. The two first country tracks that reached the top of the U.S. charts for airplay were "Love Story" and "You Are My Friend". Red (2012) featured the debut Billboard Hot 100 song number one, "We Are Never Ever Going back Together". The singer discarded her image as a country singer and released 1989 (2014), a synth-pop album that included the chart-topping tracks "Shake It off", "Blank Space" and "Bad Blood". Reputation 2017, featuring the top-selling track "Look How You Made Me Do", was the result of media scrutiny.
Swift quit Big Machine in 2018, and she signed in 2018 with Republic Records. In 2019, Swift released Lover (2019) and was followed by Miss Americana (2020), a documentary about her life. In her albums for 2020, Folklore and Red, Swift delved into alternative and indie rock. Her singles "Cardigan", "Willow", as well as "Willow," topped the Hot 100. Swift began rerecording six of her albums after a dispute over their creators. In 2021, she released two albums: Fearless (Taylor’s) and Red. "All Too Well (10 Min Version)" from the latter album was the longest track to hit the Hot 100. The album from 2022 Midnights was released and the single "Anti-Hero" was the first to break the all-time streaming record. Swift has directed music videos and movies, including All Too Well: the Short Film (2021), and also playing supporting roles in many others. Swift is one the most successful artists ever selling over 200 million records around the world. Swift is the most streamed artist on Spotify and has five albums with more than one million copies sold in the United States. Swift has been awarded twelve Grammy Awards, including three Album of the Year awards and an Emmy Award. There have also been 39 American Music Awards; 29 Billboard Music Awards and 92 Guinness World Records. Swift is included in many high-profile rankings, such as Rolling Stone's 100 Greatest Songswriters of All Time and Billboard's Greatest of All Time Artists. Swift was named Artist of the Decade or Woman of the Decade. Swift is a defender of artist's rights and women's empowerment. Swift's music has been responsible for inspiring a generation in the field of singer-songwriters.
