Rosie Perez

KimRosie Perez, born Rosa Maria Perez June 6, 1964 is an American choreographer and actress. Her breakthrough came through her role as Tina in the film Do the Right Thing (1989), which was followed by White Men Can't Jump (1992). Perez's performance as Tina , in Fearless (1993) has earned her an Academy Award nomination for Best Supporting Actress. Perez's starring roles in films include It Could Happen to You (1994) and The Road to El Dorado(2000), Pineapple Express (2007), and Birds of Prey (2018). She also received three Primetime Emmy Award nominations (in 1990, 1994 and), and another Emmy nomination (2020-present) for her role as the Flight Attendant. She has been in Broadway stage productions such as The Ritz and Frankie, Johnny in the Clair de Lune and Fish in the Dark. During the 18th season, she also co-hosted on ABC's talk show The View. She graduated from Grover Cleveland High School in Ridgewood, Queens. Her mother lived in poverty in Woodside Houses by 1999. She died of complications from AIDS in 1999.
